Economic Situation / Day Trading: Related?

Day trading. Undoubtedly, the term conjures up images in your mind of serious-faced individuals sitting hunched over at their desks, alert eyes focusing on the flickering computer screens before them, closely following dancing digits and changing charts. Very true, and correct, image. Another thing that, in all probability, occurs the moment you think “day trading”, is that in your mind you automatically equate it with an “economically sound” economy-commonly and simply referred to as a “good” economy. And that is a point that we would like to discuss, dissect, and disprove in the context of this article.

For some obscure reason, there are those of you out there who mistakenly assume that successful day trading can only take place during times when the general economic situation is good, during a period of economic prosperity. You couldn’t be more wrong. But, on second thought, the reason for your thinking that way may not be so obscure after all. We can, perhaps, understand your line of reasoning, understand what leads you to erroneously believe that, in order to do well in day trading, the economy has to be stable and on the up side. Your brain tells you: President Obama is lecturing nonstop about the sagging economy and various related topics + people around you are doing very poorly in business these days + stockholders are anxiously trying to keep afloat amidst tremendous losses = delete any and all notions or intentions of day trading, for it is impossible to “make it” in the market when the economy finds itself in such a weakened state. Right? Wrong! Had the previous statement been an answer to a question on an exam, a teacher grading the test paper would swiftly circle it and clearly mark it in rich red lettering “incorrect equation”. Due to a lack of proper knowledge on the subject, your brain is feeding you misinformation!

Let’s delve a bit into some of the details and dynamics involved in day trading, so that we can better comprehend how, and why, it is that day trading holds potential for success regardless of the economical state of affairs. Day trading deals with the here and now, with the happenings in the market on a minute-to-minute, and even second-to-second, basis. While the market busily fluctuates throughout the day, going through its expected ups and downs, day traders attentively monitor the proceedings as they wait to take their plunge. They observe the prices of shares escalating ever higher, and then, moments later, dropping drastically. They keep track of stocks that were worth pennies minutes ago, suddenly soaring to significant values. And somewhere in between these goings-on, the ever-ready day trader will grab an opportune moment to take a position and turn himself a profit. He might decide to purchase a share at a low cost with the confidence, acquired through careful analysis, that he’ll be able to sell it shortly at a rate that will yield returns. Or, he may choose to short-stock: he will sell a share for a specific amount with the intentions of buying it back, say in a couple of hours, when the price will go down. Again, according to meticulous calculations on his part.

We have a setting here of a market where shares are being bought and sold all day, where prices are constantly rising and falling. This is a daily situation, an anticipated situation. The market opens at nine thirty, day traders diligently begin buying and selling, price tags keep being altered to the up or down side. And this setting doesn’t change. The scenario repeats itself day in, day out. So, whether the economy is spiraling downwards, or whether there is big talk of the market tanking, it doesn’t affect what occurs in the day trading arena. Because with day trading, it’s current movement that counts. It’s what’s happening this hour, this minute, this second that makes a difference. Unlike stockholders, who acquire stocks and hold on to them for long periods of time-months, and even years-and therefore can unfortunately find themselves stuck with shares that are practically worthless during a phase of an economic decline, day traders “do their thing” and are out of any position at the end of the day, at market close. Stockholders are long term traders; day traders complete their transactions in anywhere from a few seconds to a few hours.

And that is the precise logical reason why the general economic, or market, state doesn’t influence the success rate of day trading. Conditions may be good or bad; it doesn’t carry relevance as far as day trading is concerned. For in a setting as described above, there is always opportunity to dive in at the perfect moment and “make that pitch”. Of course, we all hope for an up market, for a healthy economy. The point is that, up or down, healthy or unhealthy, scientifically it doesn’t affect day trading.

In summation, we now have a clear grasp of the distinction between day trading and long term trading (or day traders and stockholders), and of why the economic and market circumstances don’t have a bearing on the outcome of day trading efforts. We now know unmistakably that a “bad economy” doesn’t translate into “keep away from day trading”. We have cleared all misconceptions by learning and internalizing that day trading centers on what transpires intraday, that day traders take advantage of the now.

The Conscious Entrepreneur’s Blueprint to Earn Passive Revenue with Information Products

Copyright (c) 2009 James Roche

Yes, you can be spiritual AND make plenty of money at the same time. In fact, the secret to wealth is already within you. I believe you have a special spark inside that allows you to solve specific problems in your own unique way. And the beautiful part is people will pay you to solve their problems with your special, core gift.

Imagine a way to positively impact the greatest number of people with your core gift. Imagine the tens of thousands of lives you can help…if you can only reach them. This “dream” is a reality for a select few conscious entrepreneurs who package and sell their knowledge into information products: books, eBooks (electronic books), audio CD’s, teleclasses, special reports, workbooks, live workshops, coaching programs, and many more.

The big mistake I see most conscious entrepreneurs make when they try to create info products is diving right into the content without first creating a strategy to create and marketing their info product. I will show you how to avoid this massive mistake so you create an info product that fully expresses your gift to the world while making you rich!

It starts by uncovering that unique spark within you.

Your Core Gift

Your core gift is the theme of your life expressed in all the things you do and love in life. Who you are – your unique strengths – are integral to the heart of your business. Look back over your life and you’ll see your core gift expressed everywhere. It’s in the games you played as a kid, in your past careers, and in your education path. And it’s probably why you chose to be a conscious entrepreneur.

Even countries have core gifts – it’s what they believe in as a core value, what they are known for. What do you think is the core value of America? Freedom! When you think of Germany, what do you think of? Order! How about Italy? Family! It’s the same in the arts – although you may not be able to put a word to it. Look at The Beatles. Their sound was so unique, it’s instantly recognizable. When you see a Picasso, you know it’s a Picasso.

You and your business are no different. What’s the core theme of your business? How do you bring your core gift to the people you serve? Your info products will come out of your core gift. This will help you distinguish your products and business from everybody else’s.

A Simple Exercise That Can Change Your Business Forever

This may sound simple, but it’s key to your success with info products – identify what your business is really about. Because many conscious entrepreneurs are borderline ADD, it’s important to hone in on one topic and create your products around that.

Here’s a simple exercise to find your topic that I think you’ll find very enlightening…

Imagine stepping into your local bookstore. Push open the door and feel that rush of cool air. Smell that new-book smell. Somewhere in this bookstore is your book. Think of your book as the embodiment of your business – it represents what your business is all about. (If you already have a book, still play along to make sure your business is on track.)

Stand in the bookstore and notice the signs hanging from the ceiling with general topics: fiction, history, self-help, etc. In your minds eye, start to walk towards the topic your book is under.

Standing under the sign of your general topic, look at the bookcases. Notice the sub-topics listed on the shelves. For example, under business you may find leadership, management, investing, etc. (To give you an idea, my sub-topic is marketing.)

Go to the shelf with your sub-topic.

Now imagine looking for your last name among the books and pick out your book. Remember, your book represents what your whole business is about so feel yourself pulling out your book. Look at the cover. What’s the subject of the book?

For example, in my business I go to the “Business” section first. My sub-topic is “Marketing” and as I pull out my book, I see it’s about “Info Products.”

You can do this exercise in real life. Go to your local bookstore this week and try it out. If you get stuck, go to the information counter and ask an assistant to show you books about ____ (Fill in the blank with general information about what you do.)

(As a side note, it’s really fun to see who your neighbors will be on the book shelves. Look up your last name and see who you’re next to.)

The Secret to Passive Revenue with Info Products

There’s a secret art to making money with your business topic…and that is not selling your topic. What people buy isn’t the tangible thing you sell – they buy the core benefit of what you sell. You buy a drill bit because you want a hole, not because you want another piece of metal around the house. You buy eyeglasses because you want clearer vision.

Imagine if you had to sell wall paint. Most people would talk about colors and price, but not you! As a savvy conscious entrepreneur you can tune into the bigger picture – you don’t sell paint, you sell happy walls!

Before creating your info product, get clear on what you’re really selling. People don’t buy information for information’s sake alone. It’s the bigger benefit people are buying – an end result.

Find the Niche That Makes You Rich

You may have been told you need a niche…and it’s frustrating to discover your particular gift. Most conscious entrepreneurs are good at tons of things – it’s hard to narrow down all your talents and passions to one thing. And everyone needs what you offer, right?

Well…

There’s a HUGE difference between what you think people need and what they actually want. No matter how passionate you feel about your subject, people only pull out their wallets for what they want. I personally love opera (It’s crazy – I know. I grew up listening to my Mom and Dad play Elvis and my brother play Led Zeppelin.) I think you should really, really go see an opera. There’s nothing else like it. In fact, go spend $200 to see an opera by Wagner. Sure they’re 5 hours long…but you’ll love it! You must go!

Convinced?

If you have no interest in spending money on opera, there’s no amount of “selling” I can do to change your mind. That’s why you only want to find people who are hungry for what you offer. “Everybody” is NOT your target market!

Here’s a simple technique to find your target market…

On a fresh piece of paper create two columns. In the left column list all the problems you solve with your Core Gift and business. In the right column list all the groups of people who need those problems solved.

Choose a group that looks like an obvious choice – they have a clear problem and they want what you offer. Choose the Topic of Your Info Product

You now have all the important elements to create a winning info product: your core gift, your topic, and a target market. The next step is easy…choosing the topic of your info product.

You can make your life very easy or very hard here. The easy path is to simply ask your target market what they want most and give it to them. The hard path is to try to figure this out on your own.

Let your target guide you. Ask them what their single greatest challenge is around your topic. Another great way to identify what products to create is notice what people complain about the most. For example, if you teach sales, you may hear people complain that they don’t know to separate themselves from their competition. Simply take what they say and add “How to” in front – that’s your info product! For example, “How to Separate Yourself from the Competition for Greater Sales.”

Create Your Info Product

You’re now ready to produce your info product. This is also easy to do. Remember: you want to leverage your information, so one way to start is give a teleclass on your product topic. Record it, transcribe it and package it with some nice graphics. You’re ready to make money with your knowledge!

Info products are one of the simplest and best ways for the conscious entrepreneur to make money doing what they love. You already have the expertise hidden in your Core Gift – you’ve had it all your life. You now have the opportunity to share your gift with the world and fulfill one of your life’s purposes.

Debt Relief Plan

If you are in debt then you need a relief plan so as to make your way out of it; the correct plan will act as a relief from debt.

If you find yourself in debt then you need to make a plan in order to escape it; the sooner you do this the less it will cost you in the end. The longer you leave debt in your life the more you will eventually pay back as interest repayments.  It is vital that you create a debt relief plan for yourself today and that you stick to this plan.

When making your debt relief plan it is important that you are completely honest with yourself. List all your income and all the bills that you need to pay. Check for areas where you can get rid of wasted expenditure and consider sacrificing some of your less needed luxuries. You don’t want to make your life miserable, but you do want to have as much money as possible available to clear your debts.

You need to ensure that you are able to pay at least the minimum payments on all your debts. After this your debt relief plan should involve rating all your bills with the lowest one on the top. Focus any extra cash you have on clearing this one debt; the fact that you will be paying more than the minimum payment will mean that clear it more quickly. When you have finished that debt then take the any extra money and the cash you paid for the cleared minimal payment and pay all this off the next lowest bill. As each bill is cleared this way you move up to the next lowest and so on until you are completely free of debt. After finishing with your bills it might be a good idea to continue saving at least a portion of the money you were using on repayments so that you never need to borrow money again.

Debt can be the cause of a lot of worry and sleepless nights, but if there is a solution to it and once you create and follow a debt relief plan to suit your needs then you will find a way out of it. All you can do is your best and there is no advantage in feeling too bad about the whole thing. Many people end up in this position and most work themselves out of it. Even the biggest debt can be cleared if you chip away at it.

Whole gardening circle of life

If you’re a certified gardening aficionado then a gardening forum is just the thing for you. Your family’s already probably tired of hearing minute details of the earth worm and its resourcefulness, not to mention hearing about the detailed structure of the foxglove and its place in the whole gardening circle of life.

What a gardening forum will offer you will be the chance to talk to like minded people who don’t mind talking for hours on end about the vagaries of gardening, and who, in fact actively seek out kindred souls such as yourself, for the same reasons you did.

But now you ask, how do I find a gardening forum, and how do I find one that’s right for me? It’s a perfectly valid question and you have nothing to feel ashamed about asking it. After all, you’re a gardener at heart, not a computer wizard.

We’ll start with the basics, and move on from there. You could ask a friend, or a colleague, or even a family member, but the way I see it reading this article will be less time consuming, and potentially less hassle free as I won’t be ragging you on your computer non-know-how. We can’t all be computer savvy.

Since right about now you’re probably feeling the urge to ’branch out’ on your own and find your very own set of gardening fanatics, all you need to do is type in the words “Gardening Forum” into your favorite search engine and press the search button. And, hey presto, you have access to your very first gardening forum.

To participate in a forum of any kind you will generally be required to join and sign up as a member. Usually this shouldn’t entail anything more than providing a valid email address, a password, and a member name. A few personal details might also be asked to be supplied. There really should be no need to charge you for the membership, and if they are asking for a fee, I would suggest that you look around for a different gardening forum to join. Most are free, and won’t require you to shell out any cash.

If you’re satisfied with the gardening forum that you’ve found, and you’ve filled in all the pertinent details, take a moment to read the Terms of Service Agreement, and Privacy Policy that will invariably be there. This is to protect both you, and the people holding the gardening forum. In this day and age you can’t be too careful.

So, now that you’ve finally found the kindred souls you’ve been looking for most of your life, I say go ahead and make contact, after all, it’s not everyday that you get a chance to talk about gardening all day long. Or, at least it wasn’t everyday, but now that you’ve found that perfect gardening forum, who can tell? You might be found more on the computer now, than in your garden!

Coca-Cola and Nintendo Re-Invent Brand Image

Pop Culture Trend: Re-Inventing Icons
Trend Tags: Coca-Cola, Icon, Nintendo, Wii, Re-Invent, Mario Kart, Innovation, Street Fighter

Imagine sitting down with an ice-cold Coca-Cola, finishing up the volcano level on Mario Kart just in time to watch the Transformers. When you imagine this, what decade are you in?

The re-inventing icons trend is about re-energizing cultural icons in fresh, new and exciting ways–to capture new audiences while re-connecting with the generation that grew up with them. Pop culture icons born in the 1990s, like Mario Kart, are being re-invented for new audiences through innovative platforms like the Nintendo Wii.

As viewers continue to seek familiarity in their entertainment, producers are benefiting by providing a product that is tested and trusted–eliminating much of the risk involved in launching a new product. In other words, it’s more of a sure-thing. We will explore the cyclical nature of the world around us that makes us want to re-live memories while inventing new ones.

Key Elements

Re-connecting — In a time when our world has been turned upside down, often times it’s comforting to re-connect with brands and franchises we’re familiar with. Coca-Cola, a seemingly timeless company, is the #1 trusted brand among consumers. The iconic soda brand brings us back to a simpler, happier time. This connection with consumers might by why they have over three million Facebook fans.

Or, consider the re-emergence of Mario Kart and Street Fighter. Both iconic video games ranked in the top ten on the 2009 most popular video games chart. With 17.39 million units sold as of June 30, 2009, Mario Kart Wii is among the best selling standalone games of all-time. It is through new, innovative platforms, such as the Wii, that we can experience familiarity in fresh ways.

Tested, Trusted — We are emerging from a time when financial institutions took excessive risks at high costs. As the economy has faltered, entertainment companies are re-inventing icons of the past to bring familiarity and comfort to audiences. Even obscure TV shows like Land of the Lost are hitting the box office.

Inherently, we trust things we are familiar with. An example of this recessionary strategy is the Transformers 2 movie. The updated classic is the #1 best selling movie of 2009. Bright spots like the Transformers show consumers want to re-visit icons of the past while movie…
